In addition to solo performances and masterclasses in Europe and Canada, Dr. Payne has
performed with her flute and piano duo, CANSonare (Canadian Sound) and flute and harp ensemble, Duo Pastiche, with New Zealand Symphony harpist, Carolyn Mills and is an invited Guest Artist at the Raffaele Trevisani International Flute Course in Milan, Italy. Currently, Dr. Payne is Co-Founder and Co-Administrator of San Diego Coastal Flutes; Founder of Music West Flute Studio and a freelance performer under the AF of M (American Federation of North American Musicians), San Diego Chapter. In summer, September is flute faculty and performs with the CICA International Orchestral and Chamber Music Festival in Dallas, TX. Former positions include San Diego State University, Grossmont and Mesa Colleges, Adjunct Professor of Flute and Music History Lecturer; San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Principal Flute Substitute; The San Diego Philharmonic Quintet; Civic Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble and SDSU Flute Choir Conductor. Committed to pedagogy, September has served as San Diego Flute Guild's, President and is active in numerous musical societies: NFA, MTAC, Phi Kappa Lambda, Mu Phi Epsilon, and the Marcel Moyse Society. Her mentors include some of the greatest pedagogues and artists of the 20th and 21st Century: Marcel & Louis Moyse, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alan Marion, Geoffrey Gilbert, Albert Tipton, Sir James Galway, and Carol Wincenc.
