Residing in Verrazzano, Dr. Elena Yarritu is an accomplished performer, dedicated educator, and conductor. In addition to extensive performing and pursuing educational experiences in New York and in Europe, she has earned a DMA from Stony Brook University and an MM degree from Yale University School of Music. Dr. Yarritu has studied with many fine flutists here in the US and abroad in Europe, including Isabelle Chapuis, Lloyd Gowen, Alain Marion, Ransom Wilson, Jill Felber, Bart Feller, and Carol Wincenc. She has 30+ years of experience in mentoring young talent and teaches privately in North County (92127). Many of her students have earned top prizes in the Musical Merit Foundation Competition, MTAC Concerto Competition, H.B. Goodlin Competition, All-Southern, and All-State Honor Bands, and the San Diego Flute Guild Competitions. Dr. Yarritu is a member of the National Flute Association, the Music Teachers Association of California, and the Music Teachers' National Association. Dr. Yarritu can be heard on the MSR Classics label in her debut CD, Scree, featuring works by Mike Mower and Samuel Zyman, Debussy, Martin and Amirov. Her second CD Emigrantes of Music from Argentina features the music of Piazzolla and original works by Exequiel Mantega.
